A Home For Hamish
A colourful, immersive and interactive adventure for young audiences.
Playfully merging dance and British Sign Language in a sensory world, A Home for Hamish follows the story of May and their imaginary friend, Hamish the Haggis as they travel across Scotland to find a perfect night’s sleep. The two friends must support and rely on each other in order to find home, but it isn’t really about finding home, it is about the journey - when we work together we can escape dragons, dance with jellyfish & even climb the tallest mountains. Created by Deaf Dance Artist, Clare Adam and Autistic Dance Artist, Lesley Howard, A Home for Hamish is a space where young people can see themselves, their languages and their sensory needs represented and respected. "Right from the get go, even before entering the space, the scene and vibe were set. A beautiful journey full of surprises and colour. Mesmerising dancing and fluidity grasped the interest of everyone in the room with many surprises and humour thrown in, not to mention amazing costumes and an amazing soundtrack. A pleasure to watch and to see the joy it brought younger audiences especially" For: P1-P4 pupils The show is touring to mainstream schools and to schools with provision for d/Deaf pupils and/or autistic pupils 2 performances included per day Please contact us for details if you interested in booking this show: [email protected] Theatre in Schools Scotland offers a Small School Subsidy on request, to support remote schools or those with a small school roll ABOUT THE COMPANYJust Us are Clare Adam and Lesley Howard, Queer Disabled Artists who have been working together for over 4 years to create work that connects to their core values of play, access, curiosity and to simply bring joy.
