How we will decide whether to visit your school
We will consider factors including school location, geographic spread nationally, SIMD level, school size, urban or rural area, whether a school is new to TISS, and regional funder commitments, as well as tour planning and logistics. We will book schools taking all these factors into account, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.
As we expect demand to be high for this limited offer, we will plan to visit schools that collectively provide a national spread and ensure we reach a range of children who may have little access to the arts because of economic, social or geographical barriers. Some of the tours are supported by regional councils or sponsors and will only be available in specific regions, while others will be available throughout Scotland.

What does a TiSS visit entail?
- A visit from TiSS usually includes two performances, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, to a group of pupils (usually max 250 across the day).
- Performances are usually held in the school assembly hall (or gym hall) but an alternate room or local space can be discussed if your school doesn’t have one that suits. Schools can also attend a performance at a neighbouring school, subject to discussion with the host school.
- The TiSS team will arrive in the morning in a branded TiSS van and will set up in their allocated space. They will require minimal help from your staff (other than being let in and shown around). They will pack up and leave after the last performance of the day. Get-in and get-out usually take up to 2 hours each.
- In advance of the day, our TiSS coordinator will be in touch with various information including how to make the most of the visit and to check that everything is ready for the day.
- Each show will have its own resources for teachers to help you to prepare for our visit.
Bookings and Cancellations
Once your booking is confirmed, we will ask you to sign a letter of agreement. We kindly ask you to let us know as soon as possible if there are any changes that may affect the performance.
We have fundraised extensively to be able to provide this one-off free offer to schools and want to make sure as many pupils as possible benefit from the tour. Please help us by honouring your booking.

- Bookings cancelled between 1-3 months before the day will incur a cancellation fee of £100 unless an alternative school in the area is found to replace the performance.
- Bookings cancelled less than one month in advance will incur a cancellation fee of £250 as it is unlikely we will be able to replace the performance at such short notice.
